My daddy is gonna be jealous!

Jack & momma took a trip to see Grandma Barb & Grandpa Mike this week. Grandpa pulled out Jack's dad's snow machine so Jack could "ride" it. We put him in his snow suit and he went out and played on it.

Christmas Morning!

It's a brisk twenty-one degrees below zero on this fine North Pole Christmas morning. I got up at about 6:30... Jack didn't wake up until an hour later. We are slowly working on presents. Jack has a lot to open. So far he has gotten an awesome blanket from Crow that she made, toys and some clothes. Here are some pictures of today so far: A gift from Jack's dad (his new blankie is on his lap)

Got a new Carhartt shirt from his dad... Doubles as breakfast

Also got a sweet fox from my dad...

Merry Christmas!

It's early Christmas day in Afghanistan and I would just like to wish all of our friends/family there Merry Christmas.  We love you all and can't wait to see you in 50ish days.  Jeremiah,  I wish you were here to help me open all of Jack's gifts...  It will take me well over an hour I am sure.   Thank you to all who thought of Jack on his first Christmas,  he's having a great Christmas Eve day and is waiting for Santa to come tomorrow morning.  We love you all and wish we could be with everyone!

I hate to brag...

It's been just about a decade (really) since I've made a pie (including crust) from scratch. I made one this morning (under Jack's supervision) and it didn't turn out too shabby. My crust skills need a little work but that's okay.

Jack fell asleep during the prep

Thank you, Randa!

My cousin Randa sent Jack an ornament she got in Leavenworth, WA (no doubt where she was attending Octoberfest to which I am jealous!). It's so cute I love it!

Three months old!

I can't believe my little dude is three months old today. Time flies. He just seems to get more happy every day! He was ham'n it up for me this morning as usual! And he fell asleep on his pillow tonight as I was doing dishes.

Lazy Sunday

Today was pretty lazy for us. I baked cranberry bread using Grandma Barb's recipe. Jack & I watched Green Bay put the Raiders to shame. We are heading over to Nicole's house for dinner; Hollie is making buffalo burgers! Yum! I checked the weather just now & this is what it said:

Bring it on, mother nature!

A change in the tides...

This morning was going off with out a hitch until my section sergeant called me at 8:30 am to tell me we had to go into work.  Someone in our company had gotten a DUI last night/this morning and so we were subject to mass punishment at it's finest.  Ahh,  memories...  I took Jack with me and he had some fun with his Uncles...  And we caught a beautiful sunrise.

Baking day!

When my sisters (thank you Amy for FINALLY updating your blog) and I were young my mom used to do all kinds of baking during December. What I remember most was the hundreds of sugar cookies she used to have us decorate. It was always fun. At first. But at about cookie 38 it got a little tiresome. However we always enjoyed ourselves. Today Jack and I are going to get some baking done before we go to Auntie Leigh Ann's birthday bonfire tonight. I'm making up some home made sugar cookies for Savanna, Henlie & I to decorate. And then I am going to try my hand at Grandma Barb'a cranberry bread. Here is my kitchen supervisor watching over me

Great weekend

Jack and I had a great weekend visiting his grandparents in Wasilla.  The drive down was beautiful.  We stopped and had lunch at the Chevron in Cantwell Friday afternoon.  Sunday evening that same Chevron burned to the ground from a propane explosion!  We  had a great time in the big city.   Went to Target & Arby's (if you live in Fairbanks then you will understand what a big deal that is),  some holiday bazaars,  watched football and ate great meals (thanks, grandpa Mike!).   The drive home was great,  I saw more moose from Wasilla to Talkeetna than I have my entire time in Alaska,  and saw the herds of caribou in Cantwell.

After the long ride down giggling with grandma

Hanging out with grandpa & Hunter dog watching football

The ducks in the back yard

Hunter got jealous of the squeely squirmy guy I brought

Watching more football

A small spike.  One of the many we saw on the way back.
Missed a picture of the big bull we saw.

Caribou in Cantwell.  Grandpa is going to pick up his 5th wheel in Tok
on Wednesday.  Bringing his rifle incase these guys are close to the road
and in range.  Maybe we will have some Caribou to eat when we go down to
Wasilla at Christmas.

There was a big gas station store here!  It burned about 17 hours before
we passed it on the way home.  It was weird to think we had lunch there
just a few days before.

Napping with grandma after we got home
