A New Hope

Star Wars "A New Hope" was on TV tonight so I thought I'd pop some corn and hang out with my little buddy to watch it and just wind down from an eventful weekend.  Nicole and I went to see "Breaking Dawn part 2" earlier today (LOVED IT) so I was in a movie-watching sort of mood.  Jack got his own little bowl of popcorn and was hooked on the movie as he always has been.  This is Tug's first experience with any Jedi-related activities, and he was weirded out by R2D2's squeeky communication.

My own bowl!

Mom, are you really going to take pictures of me eating popcorn?
Yes, yes I am...

Mmmm mmmm good

He finally just faked a smile so I would stop taking pictures.
He knows the deal.

T-day 1

We went to our friend Heather's house (see blog "Heather on Ice and Men") for a Thanksgiving meal.  Hollie, Jon & Henlie flew up from Anchorage and Matt, Nicole, Savanna and Lyla came over as well.  We each brought a dish of home-made Chinese food.  After a small but potent-smelling kitchen fire we had a great meal!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ready to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

Five minutes into the parade he was bored!

I have a lot to be thankful for; Jack is happy, healthy and too smart for his own good.
He goes to a great school and loves his teachers.
Amazing family and friends. I wouldn't be where I am without you all!
A fluffy, huge, ill-mannered dog who leaves hair EVERYWHERE, but lets
Jack climb on him, examine his teeth, share his food and use him as a
step-stook or the occasional bongo drum without so much as raised lip.
My sweet little house in NP. We love our home.
I have a job!

Turkey for my turkey

Jack's school had a turkey lunch today for Thanksgiving. He thought it was a little weird that his mom was there for lunch but we had a good time

Ready for sledding!

But it was twenty-six below zero last night when we got home from buying a sled. We weren't using the new toy last night.

Converstation with Santa Claus

Today Jack and I finally got out of the house after not leaving for three days.  We went on our yearly pilgrimage to visit Santa.  The 5 mile trek didn't take long,  and Jack got up on Santa's lap like they were old friends.  Jack was distracted by all the shiny and bright ornaments but I managed to get a couple of good,  Christmas card worthy photos...

We are busy here stop asking me to look at the camera

I wonder...

Discussing sleigh capabilities

H is for Havoc

I try my best not to let Jack or myself get cabin fever on the weekends.  Yesterday we went outside and played for a while,  took Tug for a walk to the mailbox, read book after book, baked brownies, and played with just about every toy Jack has.  Apparently it wasn't enough.  Jack pushed one of the bins that holds his toys on a shelving system we have and made it into a jungle gym.  He also tried to stand on the bouncing pony Carla got him but I wasn't quick enough to get a picture of that...

Watching the snow fall,  we got about 3 inches or so,
but this just wasn't exciting enough

Hmm... this could be fun

Just give myself a little pull...

And we have lift-off!!

He was sitting with Tug on his bed petting him while Tug ate his treat,
I don't know why I thought I could get a picture of it

...snuggly...

It's been snowing literally all day.  We went out and played for a bit but we have been hanging out in the house for the most part.

Potent winter storm takes aim for western Interior Alaska

Potent winter storm takes aim for western Interior Alaska: FAIRBANKS - The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for western Interior Alaska on Friday for a storm that is expected to dump snow and freezing rain in some areas of the lower K...

Long weekend

Our four day weekend started of a bit sketchy... The washing machine was not being cooperative. It's time for a new one but I'm hoping this machine will hold out for a couple more months... It's about 20 or so degrees warmer than it has been all week. It's above zero now. We are having a lunch of ravioli's today and Jack is particularly excited for it.

Lazy Sunday

We spent our Sunday rockin' out, watching the snow fall & trying to adjust to the new time.  Can't forget watching the Seahawks romp on the Vikings!  Jack didn't nap much today and he went to bed early. It's going to be a long week however luckily it's a short one... Four day weekend coming up for Veteran's Day!

Jammin' to the Naked and Famous on mom's phone

Always fist pumpin'

Hittin' the paci hard core... Doubling up!

Snowy early Sunday morning

Jack's internal clock didn't set itself back an hour so we were awake at "normal" time which is in reality an hour early now. We ate our breakfast on the couch instead of at the table since its about 12 degrees and snowing. In the Fairbanks area we are about two inches shy of the average snowfall for this time of year and that makes me sad. I hope it snows all week, but it's supposed to stop today.
